Accutane Warnings
Across America Accutane sufferers have been speaking out about their legal rights and the various side effects of Accutane. Accutane, an acne medication sold from 1982 to 2009 has been linked to serious health conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn’s disease, skin infections and ulcerative colitis as well as serious accute Accutane side effects such as fever, rectal pain and bleeding and even death. It was not until 2006 that the FDA issued a black box warning and forced the La Roche Group, the manufacturers of Accutane, to inform patients of the adverse health conditions associated with Accutane.
Patients had the right to know the serious side effects of Accutane before they agreed to take the medications. If took Accutane before 2009 and are experiencing any of the Accutane side effects, then it is important that you seek legal representation to obtain the financial compensation you deserve. Accutane FDA Warning
It has been suggested that the La Roche Group knew about the complications and side effects of Accutane for several years and were warned about these health complications when they first manufactured the drug in 1982; however, only recently has the FDA required the La Roche Group to include a black box warning on the label and inform patients of the list of side effects associated with Accutane.
Another complication associated with taking Accutane is that many health professionals prescribed this medication without considering the patients’ need for it. Accutane is meant to treat severe acne but many physicians were offering this treatment to patients with mild or moderate acne as well. These patients were not informed of the various Accutane risks involved.
Accutane in the News
Because of the misrepresentation and misinformation of the La Roche Group, patients across America have suffered from the serious health conditions related to Accutane side effects. There have been over 5,000 lawsuits filed against the La Roche Group with many patients walking away with financial compensation for their suffering. This includes a $10.5 million award for pain and suffering of a woman diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and $25 million settlement to a man who developed inflammatory bowel disease years after taking Accutane.
