Understanding Ulcerative Colitis and Accutane

Ulcerative colitis can be broken into four separate medical conditions. Ulcerative proctotis involves rectal pain and bleeding and occurs when the disease is located only in the rectum. Left sided colitis occurs when the inflammation of the rectum stretches up the left side of the colon. Symptoms of left sided colitis include weight loss, bleeding and abdominal pain.  Pancolitis affects the entire colon and includes diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss, abdominal pain and sweating. Fulminate colitis also affects the entire colon and includes symptoms of severe pain and diarrhea as well as dehydration and weight loss. Fulminant colitis the most severe case of ulcerative colitis and can lead to a rupture of the colon and toxic release into the body.
