Darvon Warnings

Darvon and Darvocet are two popular pain medications prescribed to patients across America. Both Darvon (also known as Darvon N 100) and Darvocet contain the generic prescription pain medication propoxyphene which has been linked to serious side effects for several years. Despite a number of studies by consumer advocacy groups and several attempts to ban this drug from use, Darvon and Darvocet have continued to be sold and prescribed to patients across America for several years. Even after the European Union banned Darvon and Darvocet six years ago, the FDA allowed these medications to remain on the shelves… until now.

If you or someone you live has developed any of the severe Darvon/Darvocet side effects, then you may have the right to financial compensation for your pain and suffering. Contact our firm for a free consultation with an experienced attorney at 1-800-774-0757.

Darvocet Drug Recall

The recent Darvon drug recall came out in November 2010 when the FDA requested that Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals refrain from marketing these painkillers due to increased risks of death and serious health concerns. The FDA has stated that the risk of Darvon outweighs the benefits and thus the drug has been recalled. For many patients that have taken or are taking Darvon or Darvocet, this drug recall comes as a shock. For the thousands of people who have suffered the side effects of Darvon and for the families that have lost a loved one due to overdose or misuse of Darvon, this recall comes several years too late.

Darvon Black Box Warning

The FDA has issued the following warning surrounding propoxyphene:

Propoxyphene should be used with extreme caution, if at all, in patients who have a history of substance/drug/alcohol abuse, depression with suicidal tendency, or who already take medications that cause drowsiness (e.g., antidepressants, muscle relaxants, pain relievers, sedatives, tranquilizers). Fatalities have occurred in such patients when propoxyphene was misused.”

Darvocet Serious Side Effects

Darvocet comes with a number of serious health concerns and side effects that patients should have been made aware of. If you are taking Darvon or Darvocet you have an increased chance of cardiac concerns including heart palpitations, heart arrhythmia, suicidal tendencies, lightheadedness and death. This is due to the dangerous drug propoxyphene which is found in both Darvon and Darvocet among other painkiller medications.
